About Me
Mary P. Ziller, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, writer, and public speaker who empowers clients to use resilience skills when facing unexpected change to get them started in a new direction.
I know loss from the depths of darkness, and believe adversities provide opportunities to remake ourselves. Changing direction in life is not tragic, but losing the passion for life is.
I dedicate my practice to helping clients on their journey to self-discovery and self-awareness - changing destructive patterns and transforming life events into meaning and purpose. I promote healing through feeling and teach healthy ways to navigate loss, including: financial setbacks, the end of a relationship, illness, death of a loved one, loss of innocence, unhealthy addictive behaviors, and other life complications.
You will learn to integrate a mind/body/spirit approach to navigate life’s challenges while developing healthy coping skills. The Law of Attraction, Present-Centered Mindfulness, and Cognitive & Dialectical Behavioral Therapies are approaches I use to help clients grow and reconnect to their dreams and potential.
I am fully invested in working with eating disorders and morbidly obese clients. Having successfully maintained a 75-pound weight loss for over 25 years, I understand the dynamics that come into play with emotional eating, food choices, body image issues, anxiety levels, and loss of control.
Patients and clients are referred from local hospitals, physicians’ offices, and school systems, as well as from former client recommendations.
Additionally, I conduct pre-operative counseling sessions with prospective gastric bypass, sleeve, and revision patients to determine their psychological readiness for the weight loss surgery, and prepare psychological assessments for bariatric surgeons and insurance companies. I enjoy counseling post-operative patients and conducting monthly bariatric support groups at local hospitals to help patients achieve permanent weight loss, freedom from anxiety, and a positive weight loss surgery lifestyle.
